Fall is our absolute favorite season. The cool weather is more than welcomed after a hot summer and makes for great running weather. We’ve got several activities that we make sure to fit in on a yearly basis and we love being able to now include our kids in these traditions!
Apple picking – We tried to do this already this past weekend, but the orchard we wanted to go to was closed. Hopefully we’ll be able to get there soon! The Macintosh apples are my all time favorite and I typically go through at 2 bushels each year.
Baking – I love baking in the fall! The same day we get our apples I bake an apple crisp, and then start on homemade applesauce. This year I’m trying out apple butter for the first time. Noticing a trend here? Usually all of my creations are somehow apple involved. You won’t find pumpkin in my kitchen (im pretty sure I’m the only person that doesn’t love pumpkin!).
Hunting – I don’t think I’d consider this my favorite, but it’s definitely Travis’! Every September he disappears into the woods for hours on end in search of the monster buck. Bow season here starts on Sunday, so wish Travis luck!
Corn Maze – this is an activity we’ve done in the past but haven’t in a few years. We just found out that there’s a maze pretty close to us so we’re definitely going to be checking it out this year! I’m betting that Parker is going to love it!
Going to the Pumpkin Patch – Every year we’ve gone to this little family owned farm local to us. They offered pumpkin picking, hay rides, horseback riding and a petting zoo for the kids. They always had the biggest pumpkins. Unfortunately they closed after last season so we are on the hunt for a new place to go this year. We love picking out our pumpkins and coming up with fun designs to carve into them!
