Weekly Wrap #11: 2/8 – 2/14

Good morning everyone and welcome to a new week! This morning we’re linking up with Tricia and Holly for the Weekly Wrap.

I’m feeling like a broken record here, but both kids have been down for the count again all week. It started with Parker this time. He had some sort of virus that lasted a few days and then he so kindly passed it to Peyton who seems to be taking it much harder. I swear I have never made so many trips to a doctors office. These poor kids cannot catch a break this winter.

Parker missed a few days of school but was able to recuperate in time to make it for his Valentines Day party on Friday.  A couple other moms and I had planned the party so I was glad he was well enough to be there for it. We read Valentines books and had some treats while the kids passed out their Valentines to each other. I’m really glad that we are invited to participate in these parties, it’s so much fun to watch Parker with his little friends. I was pleased with how his valentines turned out!  img_1043

Travis is finally done with travel for a while! He made it home Friday night through some pretty rough conditions. The drive from the airport in Syracuse normally takes about two and a half hours and it took Travis nearly five through whiteout snow. Along with this storm front came several inches of snow and ridiculously cold temperatures. The lowest I saw it get was -39 with windchill on Saturday. We were content to stay in and watch the Olympic Marathon Trials on TV.

On Saturday afternoon Travis went to jump on the treadmill to get his long run done for the week (there was no way either of us were attempting outdoor runs this weekend) and about four miles in the treadmill dies. You know, the treadmill that we haven’t even had a month? It starts up and runs but as soon as any weight is put on the belt everything stops. Being the weekend their customer service center is closed, so we’re hoping that we are able to get through today to get this sorted out. So I took an unplanned rest day and Travis shifted his long run to Sunday.

During the evening we snuck out for an overdue date night. While we were out we realized that sign ups for the Chicago Marathon through Autism Speaks were open so we went ahead with registration. It’s a totally normal thing to register for marathons on a date night, right?!

Here’s our workouts from this week:

Travis: So, we mentioned above that I broke the treadmill. We have such bad luck. Hopefully, since it’s only 30 days old we can have a service tech come out as soon as possible and get us going again – free of charge of course. This week was death by hamster wheel again while I was in Texas. I wanted to run outside, but my hotel was right off the interstate and didn’t have sidewalks nearby. It wasn’t until my last night there, after I ran, that I was driving around and find a nice running path. My times are still slower than I would expect, but hope to see some improvement in the coming weeks.

  1. I’m sorry to hear your kids are sick. I hope the both of you can stay healthy! The Valentine card is very cute. That is awful about your new treadmill. You expect something like that to work for a long time! Great way to improvise, though. It rarely gets below the 20s around here. And that’s quite balmy compare to what you have to run in. Thanks for linking with us!

    1. The beginning of this winter was so mild so we were bound to get hit with some crazy weather eventually! The issue with the treadmill ended up being a bad control board. We should have the new part tomorrow but it’s definitely disappointing that we’re having to replace something already.

  2. Oh man! So sorry to hear that your kiddos have been sick. My daughter caught “the crud” the past two days and it’s been rough, to say the least!! And hoping the treadmill gets fixed soon!
