Weekly Wrap #24 5/9-5/15

Good morning!

I thought I’d start off by sharing a few photos from last week.

We’re a couple of weeks into Parker’s Mini T-Ball season. He seems to be enjoying it and likes the new friends that he is making!

The weather was gorgeous for the majority of the week, so we took advantage and spent as much time as possible outside. Tuesday night we spent some time at the park and took the kids for ice cream after.

Travis and I ran a local 5K Saturday morning. We missed the rain and ended up having the perfect morning to run. Travis took first overall!

Here are our workouts from the week:

Travis: It was a repetitive week for me with a lot of 8 mile runs. On Saturday, I ran my final tune-up race prior to the Buffalo Marathon at a local 5K event. It was a good morning to run and I was able to finish first place overall. I was way off my PR pace, but I was happy with my speed, how I felt and of course the outcome. It’s been a long week with not a lot of sleep on my end and unfortunately, I start a 10-day stretch of straight work today.  I’m officially starting my two week taper today as well and only have one double digit run left this training cycle – a 10 mile run next weekend. I’m really looking forward to another race weekend with the MRS. and I can now officially begin stalking the weather.

Monday: 8 miles @ 8:16 pace

Tuesday: 8 miles

1 mi. warm up; 6 x 1 mi. @ 6:15 pace; 1 mi. cool down

Wednesday: 6 miles @ 8:05 pace

Thursday: 8 miles @ 7:28 pace

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: (AM) Lady Pirate Scuttle 5K – 3.27 miles @ 6:17 pace

(PM) 9 miles @ 8:12 pace

Sunday: 8 miles @ 8:30 pace

Total Weekly Mileage: 50.27 miles

Jen: So, the last thing you want three weeks before a goal race is shooting pain. I spent the majority of the week babying my right leg to make sure it wasn’t anything serious. A couple of rest days and a few more super easy days and it would appear that all is well (fingers crossed). I was able to run with no pain for the 5K yesterday (due to the pain from earlier in the week I didn’t ‘race’ the race) and my long run today felt fantastic. I’m planning on keeping up with the extra foam rolling and stick work to keep everything loose leading up to the race.

Monday: Off

Tuesday: Walked 30 minutes to test for pain

Wednesday: Walked 20 minutes, ran one mile, walked 20 minutes

Thursday: Walked 15 minutes, ran two miles, walked 10 minutes

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: 3.3 miles (Lady Pirate Scuttle 5K)

Sunday: 10 miles

Total Weekly Mileage: 16.3 miles
