Hello from Upper Michigan! We left New York Thursday evening and arrived late Friday morning. Traveling at night with the kids makes for an easier trip as we can make good time without a ton of stops while they sleep. It does however, make for a long night for mom and dad. We were downright exhausted Friday when we got into town.
Since we’ve been here it’s been pretty go, go, go. We split time with both of our families who are conveniently 20 minutes apart. Saturday morning we took the kids to the beach that has a huge park attached to it. They had an absolute blast! Who wouldn’t on a structure like this?!
On Sunday Travis and I were able to sneak away for a while while the kids hung out with Grandma and Papa. We headed to a local golf course for our first 9 holes of the season. I haven’t swung a club in several years so it wasn’t overly pretty… But I did have a nice chip in on hole two from 15 or so yards out.
Here’s our workouts from last week:
Travis: This week officially concluded the first half of marathon training. As any person would be, I’m happy to be halfway home but know that I have a ton of miles still to come the next few months. Although exhausted, I’m injury free which is the most important. On a side note, Jen and I have completed the Run the Year challenge this week and now push towards new mileage records!
Monday: 6 miles @ 8:10 pace
Tuesday: 10 miles Marathon Pace (7:10 min/mile)
Wednesday: 5 miles + Strides @ 8:26 pace
Thursday: 12 miles (planned 13) @ Marathon Pace (7:06 min/mile)
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 15 mile Long Run @ 8:09 pace
Sunday: 6 miles @ 8:10 pace
Total Weekly Mileage: 54 Miles
Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: 3.5 miles
Wednesday: 1 mile warm up, 4×1 mile with 0.5 mile recovery, 1 mile cool down. 7.5 miles total
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: Rest day
Saturday: 3 miles
Sunday: 15 miles
