TGIF! We’re linking up with Cynthia, Mar, and Courtney for the Friday Five! This week we’re sharing five things we did this summer. I don’t know about you, but I am nowhere near ready to admit that summer is coming to an end! Here’s a look back on some of our summer highlights!
1. We raced/trained: By the end of August, together we will have done seven 5Ks, one 10K, four 1/2 Marathons, and one 18 mile race. We’ve got a few more to look forward to this fall before winter hits New York and racing is done for a while. Aside from actual races a lot of time was still spent running as Travis has been training hard for the Chicago Marathon. I don’t have any distance races for the remainder of the year but I am already looking ahead to my 2016 race calendar and planning some big goals!
4. We DIY’d: We spent some time early this summer working in our yard building a fire pit that we’ve been able to enjoy many times this summer. We’ll be closing out the summer with a bonfire with some of our friends as well! We also did a few other small projects around the house including painting our son’s bedroom and sprucing up the back deck with some new patio furniture!
5. We hit up some local festivals: Our area has a few festivals that we’re sure to hit on a yearly basis. The Bassmaster tournament brings a ton of professional fishermen to the area every year and provides some good entertainment as well. We also are sure to attend a local food and wine festival to stock up on some of our favorite Finger Lakes wines!
Phew! It’s no wonder the last few months have flown by! This fall is already shaping up to be a crazy time for us with a lot of travel and visitors!
What’s been the highlight of your summer?
Good Luck to Travis as he takes on the 18.12 Challenge this weekend!
Sounds like a great summer! Hope you have a great time in Maine.
